Not So Wordless Wednesday

Birds softly chirp, the dew fades away
I rise from my bed to start a new day
I walk down the hall, in a very slow pace
and into her room, I see Emersyn's* face
Her hair is shiny, strands light red
little tiny fingers clinging to her bed
Her head slowly turns, opens her eyes,
crinkles her face to let out her cries
I gently pick her up to see a small tear,
and whisper in a low voice,
"It's okay...Mommy's here".

*This is a poem that my mom wrote for me when I was a baby. I substituted Emersyn's name in the poem, originally it was my name. :) I think it is just so special. I hope to someday write something like this for Emersyn. I had this poem memorized at a very young age and it has stuck with me even after all these years as a reminder of my mom's love, a love that I now can relate to with a daughter of my own. Thank you Mama!!
