Thumb Sucker!!

Today at my non-stress test I saw little Emersyn sucking her thumb, such a precious sight. She was sleepy this morning while they were doing the ultrasound, which is unusual for her. Part of the non-stress test is an ultrasound where they measure the fluid around the baby. The other part is where they hook you up to a fetal monitor where they listen to the baby's heartbeat and document it for about 20 minutes and also hook you up to a contraction monitor to see if you are having contractions. It is the same thing that they hook you to when you are in labor. During the 20 minutes, they want to see two good spikes of the heartrate from the baby to make sure she is good an active. When the baby moves, her heartrate goes up, just like in us. Emersyn was trying to take a mid-morning nap, however and wasn't cooperating. SO they had to "buzz" her which was SO funny!! They take this vibrating stick thing that makes a really loud noise when it vibrates and they put it right on my belly and buzzed. It sure did the trick. Her heart started pounding SO much faster and she was kicking the contractions monitor like crazy!!! I felt so bad for her, she clearly was startled!! It was fun though, she is doing great and so am I for the most part. I have started to get some nausea back but the dr. said that is normal at this stage in the pregnancy. I have a huge baby in me and that can upset the stomach. It is so fun getting to see my little girl on the ultrasound screen twice a week though. If I choose to look at my GD situation positively, this is one perk I suppose.

Tonight we are going to look at a mini-van. I am so excited. We really want one for several reasons. One main reason is that my parents will be visiting us often from Minnesota and when they are here, it would be so nice to all be able to fit in one car. Also, we have an SUV right now that gets terrible gas mileage that we are getting rid of. The mini-van gets much better gas mileage and is even roomier. We'll see if we end up minivan owners today!

We finished painting our master bathroom, finally!!! I am excited to get it all put back together and post pics and see what you think. I am happy with how it turned out and we have a lot of paint leftover so we are going to paint the powder bath downstairs the same color, which will look really nice I think. I don't know if we will get to that before the baby comes but maybe.

I start my maternity leave THREE weeks from today! I am SO ready!!

Tomorrow my friend Tiffany is coming to visit!!! I can hardly wait to meet her little baby Riley!!!

34 Weeks!

My non-stress test went well today. I started out with an ultrasound and the tech was super nice. She actually took time and showed us parts of the baby when we asked, sometimes they can be really rushed which is no fun. We got to see the side of her little face (SUPER CUTE), her back, her foot and her arm waving at us. She moved around a lot and is in a good head down position. Her lungs are practicing moving which is something they look for. I got hooked up to a fetal heartbeat monitor and contraction monitor, similar to what they do when you are in labor. I am having NO contractions and the baby's heart rate was perfect, it got lower and higher with her movements which is what the dr. wants to see. They give her a "score" for each of these factors, movement, heart rate, etc. Emersyn got a 10 out of 10!! My dr. wants to do a big ultrasound to get the baby's measurements so I have that scheduled on Tuesday, August 5th. So far everything looks good and there is no reason to think that I will be induced. We'll just have to wait and see I guess. :) I have two appointments a week starting next week. Life is going to be busy until her arrival, that is for sure.

I am fine with going to my due date, the only thing that makes me sad is that my dad and grandma are coming into town on the 30th of August for a wedding on the 1st and the baby. If I have her on the 4th, they are scheduled to leave on the 7th which doesn't give them much time. My mom will be here until the end of September which is nice but I wish my dad could get more time with her. There is no sense in worrying about it though, things can change. I just need to be patient which isn't something I am great at!

The good news is, Emersyn looks healthy and that is all that matters!

Happy Monday!

Okay, I am totally starting to hyperventilate when I look at the little countdown thingy on the right side of my blog. Emersyn's arrival is coming up so quickly and while that is SO exciting, the idea of the actual birth still has me a little freaked out. I mean, we are doing all the neccesary preprations but I know that you really can't anticipate exactly what is going to happen. I can just continue to pray and know that God is looking out for me and this little baby that He gave us in the first place! :)
We had a fun weekend! Friday Brett got his teeth cleaned and I went with him and read in the car while he had that done. It was downtown so we figured if I went with him we could run some errands afterwards. We did just that! We went to Babies'R'Us and got our playpen with a 15% off coupon, whoo hoo! This is the Catalina collection. We really like it because it looks nice and is prety gender neutral. We are trying to stay gender neutral with bigger items in case the next baby is a boy!
We also decided on our car seat and it is on order at Segals in Beaverton....

We really like the features of the car seat and wanted to get something that will last at least two kids. We really wanted to get it on Friday but it is backordered and hard to find. That must be a good sign though! The car seat is also nice and gender neutral as well. :)

Friday night I took Brett on a surprise date to go Glow Putt mini golfing downtown! I had walked by this place when I was working downtown last Fall and have been wanting to take Brett there for a long time. It was a lot of fun, we had gone glow putting before in Hawaii and Brett had a blast so I knew he would like this. The best part was that it felt like a real date, not just the usual going to dinner date. It was fun and special knowing that our evenings will soon be occupied by a little baby girl! This is the place we went in case you want something fun to do too sometime! :) http://www.glowinggreens.com/

Saturday I hung out with my parents who graciously bought us our high chair! We LOVE it, it is a genius concept all you soon-to-be mothers!

It is called the Fisher Price Space Saver High chair and it has many cool features. It fully reclines for when you are feeding infants or just want your infant to be at the table with you while you eat. Also, it converts to a booster seat for later! I am all about the long lasting value! Plus, it is only $50, what a deal! :) We also got the CUTEST take home outfit from Gymboree that you have EVER SEEN!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to post pics of her in it!!!!!!

Saturday evening we went and hung out with friends of ours that are getting married the same week that Emersyn is due. They just got their first little apartment and it is so cute!

Sunday we went to church and then Brett went to work. I cleaned out our SUV and took pictures so that we could get it listed on Craigslist. It is currently for sale if you know of anyone looking to get a great deal on a nice car! http://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/car/762893387.html

This week: birthing class tonight, bridal shower for a friend of mine Tuesday night, coffee with a friend Wednesday morning, Dr. appointment on Thursday and then a comedy club with friends/neighbors Thursday night. It should be a fun week.

My heartburn is getting worse as the days go on. Sad. :( It could be worse though.

Happy Monday everyone!!

I am SOOOO excited because......

...one of my best friends in the world is coming to visit me in two weeks!!!!!

She is bringing her precious little boy with her too, who happens to be Emersyn's future husband!! I can't wait, it will be the highlight of my summer for sure, other then Emersyn's arrival of course. :)

More finishing touches in the nursery.....

My husband is so clever. We ordered this white mobile from Target.com that came with sports figures on it but it was on clearance so that is why we got it. Then he strung these birds on it that came on a hanging thing from Pottery Barn Kids. We loved the little birds but the original hanging thing wouldn't work in the nursery. So now she has a custom mobile. Too cute.

Her little closet is getting fuller with really really cute stuff!!! She is going to be a very stylish little girl, I am sure of it!!!

We are wanting to finish up the nursery very soon. I will keep you posted.

Happy Thursday!

A case of the Mondays.....

Mondays are by far my hardest days of the week. I know that is so cliche but it is true. It is the only day that I have to work early and work a full 8 1/2 hour day, which to me is an extra long day being 8 months pregnant. Plus, it is always hard for me to wind down on Sunday nights and get to bed at a reasonable time. Ugh. SO I am keeping myself awake at work by blogging! Why not? :)

We had a nice weekend! Brett got our yard finished over his days off (Thursday and Friday). He bascially ripped out the dying grass in our backyard and decided to just barkdust over it all. Since our yard is so small anyways, the grass was more of a hassle then it was worth and now our dog can go outside and not worry about getting muddy when it rains because of the grass. The only bummer is, because it has been so dry, she tracks the barkdust in our house and I am having to vacuum multiple times a day. I happen to like vacuming though so it could be worse. :) Thursday night we had dinner with some neighbor friends whose baby will be almost exactly a year older then Emersyn will be. It is fun to see her at her age and know that this time next year, our baby will be the same age. It is funny to think how life will be after Emersyn is born, no more waiting for her to get here. I am looking forward to that day!!

Saturday I went to a bridal shower/tea luncheon that was very fun and then to my parents house to hang out with my grandma while my parents were out of town this weekend. Sunday we went to church and then Brett worked in the afternoon while I took a 3 1/2 hour nap!!! I can't believe I slept that long!! I fell asleep on my couch though and realized that because it is so cushy, my hips didn't ache the way they do when I am in bed. I told Brett, if he ever wakes up and I am not in bed, I am passed out downstairs on the couch!! We have a temperpedic topper on our guest bed that we might move into our room for these last weeks of pregnancy. Last night we started to paint our master bathroom, one of the many items on my "to do list" before the baby comes. It seems that the list keeps growing though, more then items being crossed off. We are working on it though! It is hard being so busy and for me, just not having the energy.

I am very excited for my dr. appointment that is one week from Thursday. Hopefully, I can find out more information about a possible induction. It seems like everyone I have heard of or spoken to with the Gestational Diabetes ends up being induced and if that is going to be the case for me, I want to know! My parents will have moved at that point and I want to figure out if my mom needs to change her flight info. I am getting another ultrasound at my 34 week appt. too which will be fun. We haven't seen her since I was 20 weeks which now seems like a long time ago!

Tonight we have our second birthing class. The one last week was really fun and educational. I was pleased. Lots of good information to absorb!

Praying that I make it through the morning and don't fall asleep!!!!

Tiny tush!

I totally felt Emersyn's little bum last night. It was adorable. I was laying in bed and I always keep the covers down below my belly so I can watch my belly move around at night, which it always does, it is like our little tradition at night. Anyways, she did this huge movement that is hard to explain but kind of looked like a little bum pushing out so I felt my tummy and could totally feel the outline of her little bum. I am 100% sure of it. I told Brett to feel quick and he totally concurred that we were in fact feeling a tiny little tush. So cute and fun.

We went and saw "Baby Mama" last night. It was pretty funny and cute actually. As usual, I find myself laughing out loud to parts that I think are funny and realize that no one else is laughing. You can't help what strikes you as funny, ya know? :)

Tomorrow I am officially 8 months pregnant! Eeek!

It's July!

The days are flying by and it won't be long before we are a family of three. We are getting really really excited to meet this little girl who seems to be just as anxious to get out, judging by her movements as of late! There are times when I am sitting still that my whole belly will move and shift as if she is trying to get comfy in there! It is fun though, I am enjoying this part of my pregnancy for sure.

I am starting to feel much bigger now, especially at night when I am sleeping. My belly just feels so heavy and I have horrific hip pain, something I was not expecting. But it makes getting up in the mornings much easier, as soon as I get up, my hips don't hurt as bad anyways!

Last weekend, June 29th, I had a baby shower thrown by some dear family friends! Because of the diversity and number of people invited, they decided to do an open house format which worked really well. People came and went and we had a great attendance by some of my friends, some of my mom's and some of Brett's mom's as well!

Some pics to commemorate the event.....

Me with the ladies that threw the shower! I am looking VERY tired at this point, it was a long day but very fun and exciting!!

This is a big year for Tori and I! She is getting married on September 1st, I am due September 4th! Her and her sister Danielle are very much like little sisters to me, they were candlelighters at my wedding!

We got a lot of fun gifts at the shower, mostly adorable clothes!! We also got some gift cards which are a blessing. Our list of items to buy is getting smaller but there are still some big items on there, the two biggest being the stroller and the car seat. We are going to get those at the first of August I think.

We had a fun 4th of July with my parents. We took it easy in the morning, sleeping in which was grand. Then we went over to their house for lunch, then on a little drive to Sauvie's Island to get some produce. I got some yummy Ranier cherries and a cantaloupe. Then we went to NW 23rd and had coffee and went shopping at Pottery Barn and some other places on the strip. We ended the night with a bbq and some great fireworks!

Thursday we had our hospital tour which unfortunately was a joke. Brett and I, along with about 15 other pregnant couples were shuttled into this downstairs conference room at St. Vincent's where we had to watch a "virtual tour". How lame is that?!?!? I was a little irate, seeing as we took a whole evening of our time to look at something that we could have seen on the internet if they had forwarded us a link to it! Oh well.

Tonight we start our "preperation for childbirth" class series. I am excited/nervous!! Monday's are going to be a long day now, working 8:30 to 5:30 and then a 2 hour class but it will be worth it, I am sure. We have these classes for 6 weeks, so it ends in my 38th week.

The weather is heating up again, sad. I enjoyed the few days of milder weather that we had this weekend!

Have a great week everyone!
