Another reason to be thankful....

October 2010

Yesterday our city had it's annual "Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony" in our downtown at Pioneer Square, which is commonly referred to as "Portland's Living Room". My parents used to attend this fun event and I have always wanted to go but large crowds make me kinda nervous, especially now that we have Emersyn.

Yesterday the FBI thwarted a terrorist attack on this event and it made national news. You can read the article here. A 19 year old young man purchased a fake bomb from an FBI associate who he though was affiliated with fellow terrorists and attempted to detonate it with his cell phone from a train station. I am so thankful for our law enforcement who was able to prevent this tragedy.

Honestly though, it scares me. I know that God is my shield and my protector but still, I have feared going to those kinds of events for that exact reason...large gatherings like that just seem like an obvious target for terrorism.

It's a scary world that I am raising my daughter in but I'm so thankful for the hope I have in my God.

Isaiah 41:10- 10So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

Thanks Patti for this reminder. I so often have these same fears. It is definitely scary raising kids in this crazy world, but thankful for a God that protects me, guides me and is always with me.

I read about that on the news -- how scary. Thank God for his protection.

I love that verse! Its one of my favorites, I call it my 'life verse'!
I read about that this weekend, how scary! I didn't know that's where you guys lived. I can be the same way-there were a few mall shootings in the past couple yrs in our state, so when I'd go walking at the mall, I would let my mind wander and start getting anxious about if that would happen and I had Mia, etc. It can be scary, and at times hard to NOT live in fear with so much we see/read about going on around us. Such a great verse to remind us to Trust in Him, He'll take care of us!

I know, that was such a scary thing. Even the military around here were on high alert. It is hard to not let fears take hold, I've been learning this more and more with this pregnancy. Tomorrow is my next OB appt--the first one past 12 weeks and I am pretty much holding my breath until I hear that tiny heartbeat. It is so easy to give in to fear. I don't know how people do it without God. At least WE know that whatever happens, we are on the winning team!
