Nursery Update

The past two weeks has sure gone by fast!! Last Friday, May 16th was our FIVE year anniversary, can you believe it?? I am so lucky to have such a wonderful and patient husband. I couldn't have asked for a better friend and partner in life. We went to lunch and did some shopping for the baby to celebrate, didn't want to do too much as all our spare money is really better spent saving for baby neccessities! :) Lunch was fun though and most of all, we got to spend quality time together and that is better then any gift. We are SO excited to start this new chapter in our lives as parents!

This last week we spent most our time trying to get ready to paint the nursery on Memorial Day. Brett's parents had offered to help us and we wanted to find a day that we were ALL off and that can be hard to find. Luckily, Memorial Day came just in time.

Our nursery decorating plans have changed quite a bit. We were going to do a chair rail but decided that since the room is on the smaller side, it might look to "busy". We decided to do one wall of stripes and then rest of the room green. It is so bright and cheery. The stripes were VERY tricky to do because our walls are textured and the paint tends to bleed through even the best of painters tape. But my husband is pretty handy and did some research on the internet and found a technique that seemed to work and for the most part it did.

This is the green color. It looks a lot more "lime" colored in the picture but really is more of a bright grass green color. I love how it makes all the white woodwork really pop.

Working on the stripes.

Ta-da!!! Almost finished, just have one stripe on the left to finish up. We are about 90% done with the painting portion of the nursery and I am really happy about that! I am not a huge fan of painting, even though I love the results!! :)

Next on the list, get the carpets cleaned and then we can put together the crib. I already started to put away some of her clothes though...

I can't wait to see her little face in all these clothes!!!

We leave for our California trip in TWO weeks from Friday! I am so tired just thinking about it but I know it will be great and rewarding.

Happy Memorial Day week!!

Happy Mother's Day!

This weekend was very fun and eventful!

Friday we went to Gustav's for dinner, one of my favorite places. I just adore their potato pancakes with sour cream and applesauce. And no, that isn't a weird pregnancy craving, I have always loved them. Friday night we went and did some shopping for the nursery, what else is new. :) We also worked on the nursery itself, got the carpet's cleaned, moved the dresser out of the guest room, into the nursery, moved a bookshelf into the guest room, started to fill it with all our books. It was fun.

Saturday we got paint for her room. Paint is a scary thing to me, you just never know how something is going to look until you put it on the wall. Right now we are thinking of doing pink and green stripes on the lower half of the wall, with a white chair rail in the middle and pink up above. We'll see though, we change our mind about this almost daily. We put some of the pink and green on the wall though to see how it looks and so far so good.

Sunday, I awoke to a lovely surprise.....breakfast in bed!!!

I have the best husband in the world and he is so thoughtful. He got these adorable flower pancake molds from Williams Sonoma and made me homemade vanilla syrup, his idea since I don't love maple syrup. He also got organic strawberries, baked the bacon just the way I like it and made FRESH SQUEEZED OJ!!! It was delicious and I could have cried. He made me feel very special and I just love him.

Since my mom is out of town, my brother and I took my grandma out to Changs Mongolian Grill for lunch. Then we went to Old Spaghetti Factory for dinner. I ate waaaay too much yesterday but oh well. I am eating for two after all. :) I also got to take a nap in the afternoon which was glorious.

Yesterday I felt Emersyn kick more then I ever have before. I felt her down low and then at night she flipped over and I felt her really high, like an inch or so above my belly button. I have never felt her that high before. I decided to watch my bare tummy to see if I could see any movement and sure enough, I did!! I would feel her kick and then look and one side of my tummy would jump a little bit. I was so delighted! It is funny because I feel like she knows I like it and likes making mommy happy. I know that is silly but it is how I feel and makes me love her even more. She is getting bigger and bigger, from what I read anyways, so I am sure I will start feeling her even more and more.

I am 6 months pregnant this week, can you believe it!?? I hardly can!

Happy Monday!

Finally feeling better....

I didn't work at ALL last week which is very unlike me. I might miss one day or so for being sick but never a full week. I needed it though, since sleep was really the only remedy that I could count on. I had the humidifier on full blast and drank lots of fluids and it really only took me about 5 days to get over it. Brett came down with the bug on Friday and missed work two days as well. Poor guy.

Good news, our bedding came in, all except for the crib sheet which I can handle. I hope it still comes in but if it doesn't, we can just get a solid printed sheet, no worries. I can't wait to see it all put together. We are having the carpets cleaned in the whole house before we put the crib up. It is going to be SO weird to have a crib in my house! Weird but fun. :)

We were doing some reorganizing and realized that we desperately needed a bookshelf. Yay for Ikea. We found one that is a good, large size, enough for us to use now and grow into later, and it was only $60. You can hardly find one used for that price. It will go in the guest room where the dresser currently is, and the guest room dresser is going into the nursery. It is really sweet and white and we are going to find some pink knobs for it to replace the metal ones now.

I am feeling Emersyn move around lots now. It is a really excting and new aspect of pregnancy. I had a dr. appointment last week and my blood pressure was a little higher then usual. I normally have perfect 120/80 blood pressure but it was like 139/89. I was a little concerned but my dr. didn't seem worried. I am going to have it checked again this week. I am hoping that it was because of me being sick and my body being overtired maybe. I am sure it is nothing to worry about, I just want to make sure this little girl gets here safe and sound in September.

Starting to have heartburn during the day. Not horrific heartburn like I have heard can happen but enough to be irritating. But if it means the baby is going to be born with lots of hair, bring it on!! :)
